July 17 and 18 were two of the most exciting days of the year for United Way of Summit County. Through events like Day of Action, Neighborhood Reborn, and the KaBOOM! Playground build, United Way mobilized passionate, talented, and hardworking volunteers to help improve the lives of children and families in their community.
June 17 – Day of Action
United Way’s annual Day of Action brought together corporate and individual volunteers from the City of Akron and beyond to work on collective impact projects throughout Summit County. From food banks to homeless shelters to at-risk neighborhoods, volunteers donated their time and energy to where it was most needed. View photos on Facebook >
June 17 – Neighborhood Reborn
During Day of Action, dedicated volunteers participated in “Neighborhood Reborn” to give the University Park neighborhood a much-needed face lift. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., volunteers worked to visually transform the neighborhood through landscaping, repairs and general cleanup. Their efforts included trimming bushes, picking up trash and painting plywood boards to look like real windows and installing them in vacant houses. Special thanks to our project sponsor Depend! June 18 – KaBOOM! Playground Build
Volunteers from United Way of Summit County, City of Akron and Foresters built a great new play space for kids in ONE day. The playground was built in Suddieth Park, in Akron’s North Hill neighborhood. This project was in partnership with KaBOOM!, the national nonprofit dedicated to giving kids the childhood they deserve by bringing play to those who need it most. More > View photos on Facebook >
