Letter of Intent – 2023 Funding Cycle

This Letter of Intent is the first step in the process to apply for funding from United Way of Summit & Medina for the upcoming 2023 funding cycle (April 2023 to March 2025*). We are interested in working with new and existing programs that help advance our ecosystem and are addressing the various problems and disparities our communities are facing.

Please complete the questions below. Upon review, you may be invited to continue forward in the funding process.

The deadline to submit this Letter of Intent is 5pm on Sept. 21, 2022. Only one (1) Letter of Intent will be accepted per agency. All applicants must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit currently serving residents of Summit and/or Medina counties.

Funding priorities are for programs that:

• Actively identify and refer individuals interested in financial coaching in Summit and/or Medina counties to our Financial Empowerment Center
• Break down stigma around mental health in Summit and/or Medina counties, or promote mental health care in communities of color in Summit County, or youth in Medina County
• Are interested in providing services on-site or specifically for families at one of our Family Resource Centers at Akron Public Schools
• Provide increased opportunities for Akron youth (ages 15-24) to engage in quality enrichment or reduce barriers for youth employment
• Target the disparity in the Black infant mortality rate and adverse perinatal (before, during, and after pregnancy) outcomes
