United Way of Summit County is accepting Letters of Intent (LOI) for its Development and Priorities Funds. LOIs are being accepted for these funds until 4:30 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2015 from nonprofit organizations providing service in Summit County.
Development Fund – Funding this cycle is targeted to support One-Time Technology Needs for a program or agency to improve effectiveness, efficiency and/or sustainability. Requests may include software, hardware, equipment, training or consulting assistance related to the aforementioned. Requests should include information on how this specific technology support will help enhance or support your program or agency. Marketing support will not be funded at this time. Development Fund funds will be awarded based on the impact of the request to the agency or program.
Priority Fund Funding this cycle is targeted to support:
Financial Stability for Families: to enable residents to obtain/maintain employment; create an entrepreneurship opportunity for themselves; manage personal resources independent of public assistance. Examples include financial education and asset building; transportation; employment support – job search, training and/or retention, entrepreneurship assistance, coaching/mentoring; case management and/or counseling to help mitigate employment and personal barriers; maintenance of home ownership or independent living. Preference given to comprehensive projects with focus on families earning between 200% & 300% of poverty level and providing follow-up evaluation of at least 12 months for clients served.
Education: to increase access to quality early education, youth mentoring, and financial education for low income working individuals and families. Early care and education – preference given to comprehensive approaches involving families and/or community in design, implementation and evaluation. Examples include efforts to reduce transportation barriers; services tailored to build families/relationships and communities inclusive of cultural and background needs. Youth support – preference given to comprehensive, collaborative approaches based on proven models and best practices. Examples include re-engaging youth not working or in school through training programs, work experience, development and mentoring; building capacity/collaboration across existing programs.
Utility Assistance for Adults Without Minor Dependent Children: to restore and/or maintain utility services in order to prevent displacement of household occupants (limited to major utility sources excluding telephone). Agencies applying must currently provide utility assistance services. Proposals must address household budgeting and demonstrate the ability to determine the future viability of the resident to maintain utility services.
Interested organizations must submit a letter of Intent to the United Way of Summit County by 4:30 p.m., on Friday, October 2, 2015.

Applications from those agencies invited to submit a full formal proposal will be notified by October 12. The deadline for the formal proposal is Friday, December 18, 2015.
