Cathryn serves as Chief Operating Officer for United Way of Summit & Medina. She was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. After high school, she moved to Columbus, Ohio, to attend Capital University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Art.

Cathryn returned to Akron in 2010 and completed her Executive MBA from Kent State University. Previously, she was the Administrative Director for Organizational Effectiveness and Transformation at Akron Children’s Hospital. In this position, she was responsible for the development of managers, staff and physicians. This included enhancing the leadership development processes for current and future leaders, the development of standards around educational needs, workplace development pipelines and the implementation of learning interventions that build organizational and individual capabilities. She has worked in three healthcare systems over her career and with a variety of providers, employees and service lines within those organizations.

Cathryn is a certified Professional Coach and holds certifications as a Change Practitioner with PROSCI, Facilitator of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, The Leadership Challenge facilitator and certifications in Crucial Conversations and Crucial Accountability. She has presented at a variety of conferences on national and local levels, including a Keynote opportunity with the Ohio Society for Pediatric Nursing Association, a breakout session at the ANCC National Magnet Conference and Mistress of Ceremonies for the Women’s Network, Women of Achievement Awards and Emcee for the Annual Speak out for Values Breakfast with Heart to Heart.

Cathryn is an active member of the Board for Heart to Heart Communications and continues to be a community resource and have involvement with local events and organizations like Torchbearers, Women’s Network and Access Inc., Child Guidance and Family Solutions and the University of Akron’s HR Advisory Board. She resides in west Akron with her husband Michael, and their twins, Graeme and Jemma. She enjoys being active with her family and friends, which includes hiking and playing volleyball, golf, tennis, basketball and softball.
