Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities
Read to Me Day
March 3, 2025
Volunteers will visit schools throughout Summit and Medina counties and read stories to kids. Grab a book and join us for a celebration of the joy of reading!
Reading to children helps stimulate their imaginations and contributes to language development. Share your love of reading and help kids grow their at-home library, so that the learning continues beyond the classroom.
Day of Action
June 20, 2025
Serving our community – it’s all in a day’s work! Our annual Day of Action invites people from all around our community to roll up their sleeves and make a difference by taking on projects that let us advance our work throughout the community. From packing supply bags to building furniture, it’s fun, rewarding and family friendly.
Building a better future for our community isn’t easy, but together, we can transform neighborhoods and change lives.
Stuff the Bus Medina
August 1, 2025
Stuff the Bus Medina brings volunteers together to collect, sort and distribute supplies to Medina County students, so that kids have what they need to be successful in the classroom.
Having the necessary supplies is essential, but for many local families – some of which live paycheck-to-paycheck – the growing cost of school supplies can be a serious financial strain.
Stuff the Bus Akron - RECHARGE
November 13, 2025
Our Stuff the Bus RECHARGE school supplies drive will help students return from winter break ready to finish the school year strong. With the support of local donors and volunteers, Akron Public Schools elementary students will receive a fresh set of school supplies!
While kids may start the school year with the tools they need, by winter break, many are running short. Stuff the Bus RECHARGE helps offset the cost of school supplies for the many families living paycheck-to-paycheck.
United Way Days
Jan. 1, 2025 – Dec. 31, 2025
United Way Days connect volunteers to a rotating selection of opportunities that help them get our into the community and connect with our work. Whether it’s joining us at one of our Family Resource Centers or helping us put on a fundraiser to support our services in Summit & Medina – it’s something new every month, putting you, as a volunteer, where help is needed most.
