Jenise moved to Akron three years ago for a fresh start as part of maintaining her sobriety. She has had many ups and downs saying, “it’s been a journey”. While strong in her sobriety, Jenise struggled to find housing when she came to Akron.
After sleeping in her car, Jenise decided to find shelter at the Haven of Rest. While she was there, they connected her with United Way. Jenise was assigned to a case manager, Crystal who helped find her a stable apartment and offers continued support while Jenise finds lasting stability. Jenise is in her fifties doing hard labor, it takes a toll on her body and her mind, but because of support from Crystal and United Way, Jenise is able to find safety and security.
