United Way of Summit & Medina today announced its 2025 calendar of community events, inviting organizations and individuals to support its work in the community through sponsorships. Last year, United Way-hosted events brought in more than $100,000 to help people in need in Summit and Medina counties. Crucial to that success were the dozens of sponsors whose contributions directly funded programs and initiatives to serve local residents – from its Youth United program to its Family Resource Centers in Akron Public Schools.
Next year, United Way will host the following signature events:
- The Center for Immersive Leadership Breakfast – April 8, 2025, at the John S. Knight Center
Formerly Heart to Heart Leadership’s annual breakfast, this event will give attendees a first look at United Way’s newest initiative, the Center for Immersive Leadership, created following its merger with Heart to Heart. Guests will hear about the future of the Center for Immersive Leadership and how it is growing its reach following the merger. - Taste of Medina County – May 8, 2025, at the Blair Center
Showcasing some of the best local restaurants and inviting attendees to vote for the best, this event has supported United Way’s work in Medina County for more than 30 years. - Bold Glow Golf – May 30, 2025, at J. E. Good Park Golf Course
With special guest, Akron native pro golfer Harold Varner III, Bold Glow supports United Way’s Bold Goal 2 – to boost high school graduation rates and college/career readiness among Akron Public Schools students and extracurricular participation among local youth. Bold Glow is a unique glow-in-the-dark night golf experience and celebration. - Report to the Community – August 7, 2025, at the John S. Knight Center
United Way of Summit & Medina’s flagship event, bringing together hundreds of people from across Summit and Medina counties to learn about United Way’s work, its impact, and its vision for the future.
United Way will also host the inaugural event of a new Annual Fundraiser, dedicated to supporting its Family Resource Centers in Akron Public schools, which provide safe welcoming places in schools to connect residents with needed services. The event is planned for the fall, with more details to come.
Multiple sponsorship tiers are available for each event, with varying benefits for sponsors – from program recognition to VIP seating to speaking opportunities. By sponsoring an event, companies and individuals can enjoy exclusive benefits, all while demonstrating their commitment to serving the community.
Individual tickets will go on sale closer to each event date.
“We are grateful to the many companies and individuals who have answered the call to volunteer, advocate, give and lead in support of the Summit and Medina County communities,” said Jim Mullen, president and CEO of United Way of Summit & Medina. “Our events bring together passionate individuals, respected business leaders and influential community members to support our work.”
