The United Way of Summit & Medina is accepting donations to support their seasonal services this winter. There is always a need for the generosity of our donors, but there is a distinct need for charitable giving this time of the year. The United Way of Summit & Medina wishes for everyone to have a happy holiday and has created several opportunities for you to help them reach this goal. Donate to United Way and Give Everyone a Chance for a Happy Holiday
The holidays are traditionally a time when people reflect on all of the blessings they have received throughout the year. As a result, in a spirit of gratitude, it is a time when many try to give back to their communities. Here are a few causes you could help fund this holiday season.
Christmas Meals and Baskets
Help those in need have a festive meal by donating to United Way to build a Christmas basket. These baskets contain the basics of a holiday meal and occasionally other small toys and decorations to help facilitate an even more joyous celebration.
In addition, your support can help prepare a hot and ready holiday meal for homeless people and their families to make their Christmas more enjoyable. This service is reserved for those with no permanent address who cannot provide the trappings of a traditional holiday celebration.
Christmas Parties
Apart from providing meals, The United Way of Summit & Medina organizes and executes holiday parties for those unable to provide such festivities for themselves. These events typically contain a variety of different activities associated with the season. Dinner, games, and occasionally small presents are distributed for those in need and their families.
Holiday Gifts / Toys
Giving and receiving gifts is a hallmark of the holiday season, especially for children. You can help make a child’s holiday season magical by donating toys, clothing, or other items to families in need. Partner with United Way and help provide a happy holiday for children whose parents may be unable to give any presents due to outside factors such as sickness, disability, or even incarceration.
Needs All Through the Year
There are other ways to assist United Way of Summit & Medina in helping the community beyond the holiday season. You can help those in need throughout the year and fund various programs. A few other needs you can assist in are resolving legal & tax issues, improving community & volunteering, providing clothing & household items, offering healthcare, improving education, helping mental health, substance abuse rehabilitation, providing jobs & public benefits, and caring for babies.
