United Way of Summit & Medina today announced the release of its new listing of engagement events for 2023. Available online at uwsummitmedina.org/volunteer, it lists more than a dozen volunteer and fundraising events taking place throughout Summit and Medina counties.
The new listing includes returning events, such as Taste of Medina County and Day of Action, when hundreds of volunteers from across the community join together to help local nonprofits. Summit Beerfest, which attracted breweries from across the region to compete in support of United Way’s work, will return for its second year on November 4. United Way of Summit & Medina’s Report to the Community and Knight Breakfast are scheduled for April 26 and August 17, respectively.
New this year is a twist on a returning event – Stuff the Bus “Recharge.” As in years past, United Way will work with local donors and volunteers to provide new school supplies to Akron Public Schools students. But this time, students will receive supplies as they return from winter break, when many find themselves running short on vital learning materials.
United Way of Summit & Medina’s volunteer events are designed to accommodate individual volunteers and corporate groups. Studies show that businesses that encourage their employees to participate in volunteer activities enjoy the benefits of improved employee job satisfaction and performance, as well as increased recruitment and retention.
“We’ve taken a lot of care in planning out our engagement schedule this year,” said Malorie Kormos, associate vice president of major gifts and engagement for United Way of Summit & Medina. “We want to make sure that we are leveraging our volunteers’ efforts for the greatest impact in our community. And we want people who attend our events to learn about their community and have a great time in support of meaningful work that’s being done across Summit and Medina counties.”
